Previously, I worked as senior researcher at the Institute for Research and Mining Design S.A., Laboratory of Unconventional Technologies, in the Biotechnology and Environmental Protection Research teams. Among my areas of interest, there are Microbial Biotechnologies (the recovery of copper from low-grade ores by bioleaching in mining waste dumps and underground and the extraction from solutions by cementation on iron scrap or by using liquid organic extractants; recovery of non-ferrous metals by bioleaching from mining wastes; bacterial treatment of refractory gold-bearing pyrites; industrial application of biotechnologies for copper recovery from low-grade ores), Environmental Protection (reducing acid mine drainage phenomena through passive methods; ecological reconstruction of acid soil, affected by the extractive mining industry – mining waste dumps and tailings ponds; study on the spontaneous installation of vegetation on mining waste dumps and on tailings ponds; study of plants adapted for the revegetation of acid substrata from the non-ferrous mining waste deposits; study of the evolution of installation of iron and sulphur oxidizing bacteria in mining wastes resulted from non-ferrous mining industry; environmental impact and risk assessment of acid rock drainage processes.
Graduate of the University of Bucharest, Faculty of Biology, specialized in Biology (1980-1984), I completed the doctorate program in 2001 with a Ph.D. thesis entitled The effects of lead poisoning in humans and laboratory animals. Since 2012, I have worked at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, the North University Centre of Baia Mare, as lecturer (Human Anatomy, Animal Physiology, Nutrition, Hematology). My fields of interest include the assessment of the effects of polluting factors on health and the quality of life, the analysis, monitoring and mitigation of the effects of pollutant factors produced by industry, the study of ARD processes and pollution effects on the environment, the study of spontaneous vegetation installation on mining waste dumps and tailings ponds, and the environmental impact and risk assessment of acid rock drainage processes.
Vice President of the Heidenroslein Association, graduate in History, M.SC. in History and in Business Management, and trainee at the Council of Europe. I worked as coordinator in fieldwork activities within the following projects: Will we be able to give back the flowers borrowed from our children?, “In situ” and “ex situ” protection of endangered plant species in Ţibleş Mountains, Lapuș Valley, Someș Valley, Codrului Peak, Gutâi-Igniş Mountains (Conservation of biodiversity in Maramureș County) (funded by the Environment Fund Administration). I was also coordinator of the project Biodiversity conservation and ecological reconstruction of the lower basin of the river Tur – Adrian pond (funded by the Environment Fund Administration) and I worked in many other projects, such as Biodiversity and Climate Change (funded by the Environment Fund Administration) or within partnerships for environmental education between 2009 and 2014 (Campaign for a healthy environment, Healthy lifestyle among the youth, Healthy nutrition among the youth, Entrepreneurship explained, Romanian spring at Bruxelles, Green Heritage of Maramureş at Bruxelles, Romanian Easter at Bruxelles, Romanian Christmas at Bruxelles, Women’s Month at Bruxelles, 2010 The International Year of Biodiversity). I developed training activities within projects such as Environmental Education in the footsteps of Pintea the Brave, For Crystalline Waters, Will we be able to give back the flowers borrowed from our children?, Biodiversity conservation and ecological reconstruction of the lower basin of the river Tur – Adrian pond and I am member of the editorial board and co-author of publications.
With a Ph.D. degree in Biology awarded by the Faculty of Biology, “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University, I am currently lecturer at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, the North University Centre of Baia Mare. My main interest is biodiversity and the qualitative analysis of surface water. Alongside a series of published articles in nationally and internationally accredited scientific journals, I have participated as project manager in carrying out activities of inventory and assessment of the conservation status of plant species and habitats of national interest, in the project entitled Evaluation of the support capacity of the habitats with human activity in Rodna Mountains National Park.
As geodetic engineer, I am now President of the Geodetic Order from Romania, Vrancea County, Buzău subsidiary, with a GIS training within Geoslab Italy. The professional portfolio correlated with the reference project indicates a vast experience in terms of the environmental preservation activities. I am actively involved in several projects regarding protected areas in Romania. In the project Biodiversity conservation and ecological reconstruction of the lower basin of the river Tur – Adrian pond or in those developed in the Natura 2000 Igniş site, Maramureş County, Iron Gates Natural Park, Slănic and Nemira Ridge nature protected areas, Natura 2000 sites Ponoare Secular Hayfield and Frumoasa Secular Hayfield in Suceava County, I coordinated the technical team for the measurement and spatial determination of the habitats of conservation interest and species distribution.
